Maybelline Colorsensational Lip Elixir

The day the Maybelline Color Elixers arrived on the UK high street I was straight in there. With the hype surrounding these lip glosses from over seas (those lucky so & so's always getting the goodies first) I just HAD to try them for myself.

In the UK there are 10 shades to pick from, ranging from soft nudes to vibrant purples & reds. Most of the shades are cream finishes and a few have sparkles, they were all equally as pretty to swatch. After a while standing, staring & swatching, I picked up two shades that I knew I'd get the most use out of.  If then I like the formula I could pick up some more daring shades?

I picked up; 'Nude Illusion' a light camel nude & 'Petal Plush' a wearable soft pink shade.
Now for the formula; they claim to have The colour of a lipstick (not true for lighter shades), the cushiony care of a balm (true), and the glass shine of a gloss (very true).

The plush leaf shaped applicator makes applying the gloss like a dream, they apply so so smoothly. I would say to start with the do have a rather thick consistency, but not in a horrid sticky way. When the high shine wears off, my lips are left feeling oh so soft like I've been wearing a nourishing lip balm. Now I wouldn't say to use this in place of a lip balm, but to have a lip gloss that offers the same feeling is pretty darn nice.
The Elixers are pretty heavily scented, I describe the scent as a sweet floral smell & it does translate to the lip. I personally LOVE the scent & it is one of the many winning factors of the gloss for me. So if you are opposed to scented lip products your best to give it a sniff before you purchase.

The packaging is a sleek tube designed to replicate the look of a lipstick bullet on the inside.  They're actually pretty small too, so it's easy to pop in your pocket.

Over all I really love these glosses. The lighter shades are not as pigmented as the darker more vibrant shades, so bear that in mind if your after a full colour pay off. The formula is beautiful!!!!!!! But if your opposed to scented lip products this may not be for you.
