Hi.. My name is Gemma and I blog over at Miss Makeup Magpie. I'm so happy that Megan has allowed me to guest post on her blog for her, as I really love her blog. I hope you enjoy my Guest Post :)
When Wilkinsons started selling Essence online a few months, I had to place an order to get my hands on the products I've been lusting after for a long time. The Essence XXXL Longlasting Lipglosses are always raved about, especially their newer 'Matt Effect' range so I opted for Velvet Rose as it looked like my kind of shade from a quick swatch search online. The Essence Matt Effect XXXL Longlasting Lipglosses are described as having a velvety, light, mousse-like texture, with a longlasting formula without drying out the lips. There are five shades available in the range, each costing just £2.30 each.
Velvet Rose is a pretty, medium pink with a yellow undertone. Considering the gloss has a matte finish, it applies nicely thanks to the flat applicator but I would recommend using your fingertip to smooth the gloss over the lips after applying it, just to reduce any streakiness and to stop it settling into any lines of your lips. The toffee scent of the gloss is really quite strong but pleasant, and I can still smell the scent for the duration that it's on my lips. I'm really impressed by how creamy the formula is, as it's not at all drying or uncomfortable like you'd expect from a matte lip product. The weartime is pretty average at around two hours, but the formula is so good, it really doesn't bother me.. I never expected to be so impressed by the formula but it's amazing in all honesty, and I highly recommend trying them for yourself if you're in the market for a matte, creamy, comfortable, pigmented lipgloss.
