Happy New Year guys! I hope you all had a great NYE :) I think this NYE was the best I've ever had. My boyfriend & I went to my friends who were having a housewarming/ NYE house party & it was such a chilled out, fun night with our closest friends fuelled by beer pong haha.
I wish all of you the best for the new year ahead :) this years gonna be a gooden :).
For today's post I am going to have a quick round up of my favourite beauty products of the year 2013. It's a mix of products that have been released this year or that I have only just discovered this year. So let's start with my favourite..........
Lip Gloss - In 2013 I discovered & fell in love with the brand NYX, one of my favourite products from them has to be the Butter Gloss. They provide a silky smooth application with absolutely no stickiness & a buttery soft gloss with amazing pigmentation. My favourite is a bubble gum pink shade named 'Peaches & Cream'.
Multipurpose Product - Last year NYX also released the Wonder Pencil, a concealer, eye brightener & reverse lip liner in one. For me the pencil didn't work as a concealer, but I loved the wide eyed effect it gives when placed in the waterline & the pout enhancing illusion it creates when drawn around my lips.
Mascara - in 2013 I found my holy grail mascara, Maybelline The Rocket Volum' Express. The wand is made of rubber & wide in size covered in tiny little plastic bristles that really separate and lengthen my lashes. Trust me when I say it's amazing.
Eyeshadow -L'oreal colour Infallible eyeshadows definitely take the lead for drugstore eyeshadows for 2013. With there buttery soft consistency, easy application, strong pigmentation & long wear time. They have become one of my most raved about products of the year as a whole.
Palette - Is it cheating if I choose the Inglot freedom palette that I created myself?! I had wanted a Inglot Palette for the longest time so when my boyfriend treated me to one last year I was over the moon. I chose three shades & each one is a beautiful consistency, amazingly pigmented & I can't wait to get my hands on some more this year.
Eyeshadow Primer - NYX Jumbo Pencil in the shade Milk, is a opaque white coloured creamy stick that when blended onto the lid works great as a primer. The white shade really makes your shadows pop & the creamy texture gives your shadow something to hold onto. I use this daily, I love it.
Eyebrow - for the entire year of 2013 I used Givenchy Eyebrow Show Pencil in shade number 1. With little light stokes you can achieve a nice natural looking brow & it is so long wearing, by the evening when I'm ready to take my makeup off, my eyebrows look exactly the same as when I had done them in the morning. Before using this pencil, I would only use powders on my brows, this pencil totally converted me.
Face Primer - Smash Box Oil Free Photo Finish Primer is my number 1 of the year. Prior to this I had not bothered with face primers as none of them worked for me, but this one Is brilliant. It stops foundation gathering in dry patches, makes foundation application smooth and easy, and my foundation lasts so much longer.
Foundation - My go to Foundation this year has been Revlon ColorStay for combination/Oily skin. This will be forever more one of my favourite foundations. It is full coverage without giving the dreaded cake face effect, super long lasting. As odd as this may sound, the foundation tends to look even better as time goes on throughout the day!?! I wear shade 180 sand beige.
Concealer - Maybelline Age Rewind Concealer finally arrived in the UK this year, I bagged myself one in the shade light. It covers my dark under eye circles brilliantly & as it is a tiny bit lighter than my skin tone it also brightens up the area. This is another holy grail discovery.
Setting Powder - After hearing so many rave reviews of the Rimmel Stay Matte Powder, I had to try it out for myself. I can confirm it lives up to the hype, I used shade 001 Transparent. It keeps shine at bay & isn't at all cakey, what more can you ask for from a setting powder?!
Bronzer - I was a bit late in joining the Benefits Hoola Bronzer band wagon, but I am so glad I gave it a try last year. Hoola is a matte bronzer, with absolutely no sign of shimmer or sparkle. The shade is a flattering natural bronzed tan with no hint of orange in sight! It is perfect for all over bronzing, and gives a nice natural bronzed look.
Contour - NYX blush in Taupe, I really do need to write a blog post on this product because It is truly amazing for contouring. Don't let the word 'blush' scare you as this is most definitely not a blush, but a cool tones taupe shade, that perfectly mimics the shade of shadow on the face.
Highlighter - I tried Mac Soft n Gentle highlighter in June last summer & have been hooked since. A gorgeous peachy champagne highlighter, that gives a natural glowing effect to the face. The lasting power is the best I have come across for a highlighter.
Blush - My most used & favourite blush of 2013 is E.L.F baked blush in Peachy Cheeky. The soft and shimmering colour of E.L.F's baked blushes creates a natural healthy glow, and the soft coral peachy shade is such an easy wearable shade.
Pigment - Vanilla by Mac, as it is so versatile . It is a soft ivory white frost finish that looks gorgeous used as a face highlighter & has many other uses to. See review here for more info..
