Maybelline Color Drama Intense Velvet Lip Pencil‏ 'Keep It Classy 21'

I picked up a Maybelline Color lip pencil before I realised there was a whole bunch of hype surrounding them. With bloggers claiming It's a bargainous dupe of Nars 'matte lip pencil', it would seem these pencils are the hot item to be using at the moment.

The texture is creamy & doesn't drag on the lips. Although I can imagine if you don't moisturise your lips before hand that it would more than likely stick to dry patches as it has a matte finish. So having a soft & moisturised pout before application is a must. 

I also think it's super comfortable to wear and has a pretty good lasting time of two hours. The colour will fade a little after eating or drinking but leaves behind a soft tint on the lip.

I have the shade '210 Keep it Classy' - a red toned plum shade. This is not what I expected when looking at the pencil in store, I was thinking it would be more of a, dare I say it!?  'Kyle jenner lip colour'. So swatching the pencils before you buy might be a good idea.
So your forwarned the packaging is wooden so you will need to invest in a fat sharpener & whilst sharpening you will loose a fair amount of product. The pencil is already quite dinky so I can see it turning into a little nub pretty quickly.

Over all I think the Maybelline Color Drama Intense Velvet Lip Pencil gives great pigmentation & longevity whilst being creamy on the lips. I'm not as wowed as some other bloggers are by the product but I do think it's a nice breath of fresh air from all the lip lacquers & stains we've been seeing constantly from the high street/drug store.

    I've always been obsessed with your blog, I love your reviews! Always so honest. Even by looking at the pencil in the photos you don't expect it to look so red but OH. MY. GOD. it looks stunning on you! I'm so envious of your lips too, so pretty and this shade suits you so much! You must wear it!!!

    I have the nude perfection shade of this and I have been meaning to pick up another shade that's a bit more striking. I think this might just be it.

    Can't believe how different the shade is from the pencil to the lips! I have the shade Berry Much and I love it! I've never tried the NARS versions so I can't compare but I love the longevity and creaminess of the formula for my dry lips!

    Interesting how different the color looks in the tube versus on the lips! I was expecting a rosy pink, but I do love this plummy red on you!
