Maybelline Eraser Eye Concealer In Light

I had heard so many rave reviews from American beauty bloggers & vloggers about the Maybelline concealer that when it arrived in the U.K I was quick to whip it up.
Unlike America where 6 shades are available (including four skin tones a brightened & neutraliser) in the UK there are only two shade available at the moment Light & Nude.
Maybelline instant age rewind contains goji berry + haloxyl which are said to help erase the appearance of dark circles and fine lines, while visibly diminishing the appearance of puffiness around the eyes

As I'm a fairly light skinned NC25, I picked up the light shade with the intention of using it to help cover those dreaded dark under eye circles & hopefully brighten the area up.
New & clean
To apply the concealer you simply twist the collar of the plastic bottle until product appears through the fluffy applicator on the top of the tube, on the first use it does take quite a few twists to get enough product to come through but after that your set.

Now the fluffy dome applicator, yes it's soft on the skin & may be helpful to some for applying the concealer evenly, but I can't bear to think of the bacteria that could grow on it. I wash my makeup brushes every one to two weeks to keep them clean & bacteria free, but with this product that's just not possible. This I feel is a design fault on maybellines part.
After one use
For the actual product I just can't fault it, it evens out my skin tone under my eyes & is easily blended into the skin. The consistency is quite thin but buildable, which is what I'm after for around my eyes. For a good full coverage I apply the concealer & let it sink into the skin for a minute or so & then pat lightly into the skin using my ring finger.
It definitely does help with covering my dark circles, it doesn't brighten the eye area in an illuminating way, but brightens just because I chose a tone lighter than my skin tone.
I wouldn't say it has worked with reducing the look of my fine lines under my eyes, but it doesn't make them look worse or stand out. I don't suffer with puffiness around my eyes so I can't really comment on that one.

So all in all its a great under eye concealer & who knows in the long run it may help with fine lines, every little helps as prevention is better than cure!

Available in Superdrug for £7.99

  1. Ooh this sounds so good! I'm currently on the hunt for a new under eye concealer as mine has run out! from your pictures the spongey bit looks so huge hahah
It's a shame there are only two shades though, I'm super pale so it might not be light enough for me :( xx

  2. That's too bad that you've got such limited shades - the brightener is a game changer in my opinion! Hopefully the rest of the line will make its way over there

  7. I've saw this when I was in Superdrug at the weekend. I love trying out new concealers, but the head of it put me off, like you mentioned. I had a L'Oreal foundation with a brush on the end and I ended up throwing it away due to me feeling like I were applying dirt to my face after having it a few weeks.
